Tobacco – A Medicinal Plant?

A recent review published in a Polish journal identifies potential medicinal uses of tobacco. Although considered a toxic plant, tobacco contains substances which decrease the levels of monoamine oxidase B – the enzyme largely responsible for the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. According to the article, there is a 50% reduction of the risk of Parkinson’s disease in smokers.
